Barbara Brink - about
To recognize and celebrate Barbara Brink’s vision and outstanding contribution toward the founding of Science World, an internship/scholarship program was established. Intended to provide valuable real-world experience in the field of science education, the Barbara Brink Internship is awarded to high school seniors interested in the sciences, who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership abilities.
About Barbara Brink
Under the leadership of Barbara Brink, a set of hands-on exhibits displayed around Vancouver in 1977 became the Vancouver icon we now know as Science World at TELUS World of science.
Following Expo 86, Barbara Brink led a successful lobbying campaign to secure the famous Expo Centre “golf ball” for a world-class science centre. Subsequently, she led a massive development campaign that raised $19.1M to complete the science centre.
Her pioneering work with Science World, and other non-profit organizations and business communities have earned her the Order of Canada; the Order of BC; YWCA’s Women of Distinction Award; and Simon Fraser University President’s Club Distinguished Leadership Award.
