President and CEO Geoscience BC
'Lyn Anglin was appointed President and CEO of Geoscience BC in 2006. Prior to joining Geoscience BC, she was the acting Director of the Pacific Division of the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC). 'Lyn is a geologist and her research expertise is in mineral deposit geology and radiogenic isotope geochemistry. She has a B.Sc. from Queen's University in Kingston, a M.Sc. from Memorial University in Newfoundland, and a Ph.D. from Carleton University in Ottawa. She is registered as a Professional Geologist with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.
In addition to her research, 'Lyn has extensive experience in program management, policy development, public consultation and community engagement. She sits on the boards of Geoscience BC, the Resources North Association, and the Association for Mineral Exploration BC. She is also a member of the Steering Committee of The School of Exploration and Mining at Northwest Community College in Smithers, serves on committees of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, and the Society of Economic Geologists, and is a former President of the Geological Association of Canada.
'Lyn is interested in Science World as she has done a lot of outreach to grade- and high-schoolers to promote geoscience, and science in general, and feels that all young people can and should be turned onto science. Her own interests are in earth sciences (rocks, minerals, and metals, water, geothermal energy, etc.) and she looks forward to contributing to Science World's knowledge in these areas.
