Paul Geyer is CEO of LightIntegra Technology Inc. LightIntegra has developed the ThromboLux technology which is used as a point of care device to determine platelet quality for blood transfusions. Paul is also Chairman of Neovasc Inc. (formerly Medical Ventures Corp.), a new specialty vascular device company that develops medical devices for the rapidly growing vascular and surgical marketplace. Neovasc has a development pipeline of innovative new products, and provides contract medical device development and manufacturing services. From its inception in 2001 to June 2008, Mr. Geyer held the position of CEO at Medical Ventures and was responsible for raising over $37 million in Equity financing in the Private and Public markets and growing the company’s product portfolio through both internal development and the acquisition of 3 other companies.

Paul graduated with a B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 1988. A Professional Engineer, he has taken numerous postgraduate courses in Bio-medical Engineering and medical technology and has completed the Canadian Securities Course. He has been actively involved in the Cardiac Surgery and Interventional Cardiology markets for the past 18 years.

In 1991 he founded Mitroflow International Inc., a tissue heart valve company. Paul was President and CEO of Mitroflow and grew the company from 9 employees in 1991 to more than 125 employees in 1999. In 1999 Paul sold Mitroflow to Sulzer Medica, a large Swiss Medical Device company for more than $50 mil. He continued as President of Sulzer Mitroflow Corp. unit the end of 2001, when he left to become President of Medical Ventures Corp. At Mitroflow, Paul was instrumental in the commercialization of the tissue heart valve products and the growth of Mitroflow from no revenues to more than $8 million per year and to over 140 employees. Now a division of Sorin Biomedical, Mitroflow continues to be one of the largest medical devices companies in the Vancouver area, currently employing more than 200 people.

In 1998, Paul received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Richmond Chamber of Commerce. In 1999, he was also named as one of the ‘40 Under 40 Award Winners’ for the top business people in British Columbia, by Business in Vancouver. In the same year, Mitroflow International Inc. was named by the Business in Vancouver newspaper as being one of British Columbia’s ‘50 Fastest Growing Companies’.

He has served on the board of directors of MEDEC (Medical Devices Canada) and the Medical Device Development Center located in Vancouver. Paul has also served a member of the Technology Commercialization Advisory council for the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research. He is currently a director of a number of public and private companies in the technology field, and a mentor and advisor for Life Sciences BC Excels Program.

Paul is an active Angel investor in technology and life science companies. Paul is an active alumnus of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He has served on the Board of Directors of British Columbia Science World since 2003 where he was actively involved in the establishment of a new life sciences gallery called ‘BodyWorks’ and currently holds the position of Past Chairman and Director.

Paul has also established a private foundation, the PNG Enterprise foundation, which is actively involved in projects supporting a number of different Charitable organizations including World Vision, Red Cross, Salvation Army, local public schools, take-a-hike youth at risk program, Science World and others.
