SCHOOL RESOURCES Careers in Science Fort St. John

Fort St. John

Opening the Door in Fort St. John

Students in Fort St. John had the opportunity to learn more about careers in science, engineering, technology and mathematics through our Opening the Door program. Thirteen mentors from the Fort St. John area fielded questions from over 150 students at North Peace Secondary School. Students in Grades 10–12 were able to learn more about careers in veterinary medicine, environmental science, x-ray and lab technology, physiotherapy, geomatics and land survey, naturopathic medicine, silviculture, engineering, education and physiology.

Here’s what some participants had to say about the event:

“I think it gave students a chance to ask questions they might not otherwise be able to.” – Mentor

“It encouraged me to pursue a career in science.” – Student, Grade 11

“Today I learned a lot of things about how choose my career” – Student, Grade 11

“I already have a good idea of what I want to do, so coming here just helped me to fuel that fire.” – Student, Grade 11

“I have now had the chance to talk to people who have lived and experienced careers in science.” – Student, Grade 11
Thank you to the enthusiastic mentors, as well as the students and teachers at North Peace Secondary for opening the door to our event!

Stay tuned for pictures from the event.
