Science World Named a United Nations for Sustainable Development Institution
Prestigious designation recognizes Science World’s sustainable future mandate.
VANCOUVER, BC—Science World is honoured to announce that, in recognition of their commitment to creating a sustainable future, they have been awarded the designation of being a United Nations for Sustainable Development Institution. The distinction gives Science World the privilege of using the United Nations’ trademark logo on all of their educational and promotional material
“At Science World, our galleries, programs, resources and exhibits help inspire critically thoughtful and engaged citizens by turning children and families on to the wonders of science,” says Pauline Finn, Vice President, Community Engagement at Science World. “We’re dedicated to spreading the message that science matters—our future environment, health and economy depend on us inspiring young minds to become tomorrow’s science and technology leaders. The United Nations designation is a stamp of approval that recognises this dedication to our mandate.”
Science World has an extensive suite of programs that spread their sustainability lessons across British Columbia. These programs include Super Science Club (an after-school program), Community Science Celebrations, Preschool Curiosity Club, Science World on the Road and Scientists and Innovators in the Schools.
Only a select few Canadian institutions have been awarded the prestigious designation.
