Feeling the Earth Move

About a hundred years ago, Albert Wegener developed the idea of continental drift to explain the way the surface of Earth works. He said that once upon a time (about 225 million years ago), the world was one. He called the early supercontinent, Pangaea or Pangea, meaning "entire earth." After that, it broke up and the plates moved around. They are still moving today to create mountains and trenches in the Earth's surface.

Award-winning documentary filmmaker Jehane Noujaim created Pangea Day “To bring the world together through the power of film. The first step toward world peace is to meet the other.” On May 10, 2008, people all over the world will come together to share the first "global campfire" watching films made by the world for the world.
