Girls and STEAM: Colours in Chemistry

An exciting youth workshop event from Science World in partnership with Chemists for Diversity and Inclusion UBC.

About this event

Join Science World and the amazing team of Chemists for Diversity and Inclusion to explore the world of chemistry and colours!

We'll lead you through incredible demonstrations exploring nanoparticles, metals and explosions and what makes bugs iridescent! You will then get to tour 3 of the labs at UBC and have a live Q&A session with current students about their journeys.

While the terms "women" and "girls" are used in our event, Girls and STEAM invites participants and mentors who identify as women, girls, trans, genderqueer, non-binary, two-spirit, and gender questioning.

The event will begin with several amazing demonstrations, lab tours, a fun at-home activity and end with a live Q&A session.

Accessibility:

  • Closed captioning will be available.
