Online School Programs

Students light up with excitement when they get to see science in action, and an experience with Science World is brimming with demos, discovery, and wonder. Our interactive programming is designed by educational experts and delivers light-bulb moments along with collaborative learning and lasting memories.

Online Workshops

Online Workshops

Bee Bot Bop

Grades 1-3

Students will "bee" given the chance to explore the differences between giving instructions to a human vs. a robot by coding a virtual bee bot to complete a series of challenges.

Online Workshops

Science For a Changing World

Grades 1-6

This interactive online program explores some of the ways the world is changing and how we can influence these changes to make our world a healthier, more sustainable place for us and other living things.

Online Workshops

Classify With A.I.

Grades 3-4

This workshop explores the classification of organisms as students work towards creating and testing a neural network model to perform the classifications.

Online Workshops

Forces (unavailable for the remainder of the school year)

Grades K-6

Pull up a chair as we push the boundaries of physics in this interactive program about forces. With cool demonstrations, students will explore and test the forces acting on a variety of objects.

Online Workshops

Chemistry (unavailable for the remainder of the school year)

Grades 4-7

This interactive online program will get students thinking about solutions, acids, bases and chemical reactions using a combination of cool demonstrations.

Online Workshops

A.I. Bacteria

Grades 5-7

In A.I. Bacteria, students will use an artificially intelligent chatbot to interview one of their own gut bacteria!

Online Workshops

Green Energy Forecast

Grades 6-9

What can you do to help the climate crisis? Become a data scientist and see how machine learning can create a green energy forecast to help you make smart choices about your energy use.

What To Expect

Our reservable online programs are designed by education specialists and reflect British Columbia’s transformed curriculum. Each program provides content enrichment for a "Big Idea" and opportunities to exercise and extend students’ core competencies.

In our Chemistry and Forces workshops, jump into our lab during your 45 minute high-energy session with live demonstrations and experiments. Following your workshop, we'll send you resources to continue in-class learnings while we clean up the mess!

In Science for a Changing World, hop into climate action as you virtually explore two of our galleries and meet some critters along the way!

In our Tech-Up programming, power up your devices as we "code to learn." During your workshop, students will work on their devices alongside the facilitators as we explore the algorithms behind machine learning and A.I. concepts.

General Online Workshop Information

Classroom Technology Requirements

  • Only one computer needs to connect to the provided online meeting link that our team will send you. This computer should be connected to the classroom projector and to an audio system in the room so students can see and hear facilitators. Your laptop speakers will not be loud enough.
  • Ensure the audio and video are working prior to the workshop and have the camera and microphone on your computer facing the students if possible. This helps our facilitators gauge their engagement and understanding.

Participating Students *Tech-Up workshops only

  • Each student will require a computer, laptop, or tablet with internet connection.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Some workshop activities do not work on tablets and students must use a computer. Please refer to the individual program page to ensure you have the correct technology for your workshop.
    • If you join the workshop with the incorrect technology, we reserve the right for the facilitator to cancel the workshop.

Remote Students

  • A device with internet access and the online meeting link that our team will provide you with.
    • If you have more than 10 students joining remotely, please email us at [email protected] to arrange an alternate link, as our default platform does not allow more than 10 participants on screen at a time.
  • *Tech-Up workshops only: remote students must be comfortable switching between separate internet tabs on their device as they will be required to go between the online meeting link and the activity pages. We recommend that remote students have an adult present to assist them with this.

Min/Max Student Numbers

  • Due to our funding parameters, we require that you have at least 10 students present for the workshop. If this number is not met at the start of the workshop, we reserve the right to cancel it.
  • Maximum number of students per workshop: 30 students.
