Resources

Science World has supported fun and engaging science education since 1989 with award-winning programming for BC teachers, parents and students. Our vast collection of resources are teacher reviewed, classroom tested and matched to BCs transformed curriculum by grade.

Please use the search field and filters on the right to find an activity or unit that suits you and your learners. Not sure what a discrepant event is? Learn more about this powerful technique for inquiry learning.

April Is Resources Month!

Science Teacher

Science World is committed to supporting BC teachers and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Design, and Mathematics) education. Science World holds special events for teachers, like our upcoming Teachers' Night Out, we also offer teacher professional development workshops, and connect classes with scientists through our Scientists and Innovators in the Schools program.

Did you know that Science World has over 300 FREE resources available on our website?  Learning activities are searchable by topic or grade level, and some are grouped into mini units. Simply enter your search term into the website's search bar to find, say, a unit on states of matter.  We also have a fantastic collection of discrepant events that can serve as launchpads for student inquiry.

For all of April, we will be highlighting our teaching resources on twitter.  Celebrate by making use of our resources!

  1. Find an activity from our online collection of free resources (www.scienceworld.ca/resources).
  2. Try it out with your students.
  3. Leave a comment on the activity page describing how you used the activity, what you modified or your suggestions for its use for other teachers.

Bernoulli's Principle states that as the speed of air increases, its pressure decreases. Airfoils create lift using Bernoulli effects. Air flows more quickly over the top surface of a wing than over its lower surface. An upward force is produced by the slower moving air beneath.Aircraft wings come...

Students learn about Newton’s Third Law by making balloon rockets.Using a balloon, we can create a good demonstration for the type of propulsion that moves a rocket. When we inflate a balloon, we fill it with a pressurized gas (air). When we let go of the end, the air rushes out and...
