Science World is a “Place That Matters!”

Thank you to the Vancouver Heritage Foundation, Bruno Freschi (lead architect of Expo Centre) and Marta Farevaag in honouring us with a "Places That Matter" plaque, celebrating the history of our building as the site of Expo Centre.

On Wednesday, June 26, the Vancouver Heritage Foundation unveiled a plaque that now rests beside our entrance doors. It commemorates Vancouver celebrating its 100th birthday by hosting Expo '86. Our geodesic dome, at the time Expo Centre, became its signature building on False Creek. Architect Bruno Freschi placed the Centre on the axis of Georgia Street for a symbolic connection to the Jubilee Fountain in Lost Lagoon, acknowledging Vancouver's 50th birthday. Continuing its legacy by being the site of Canada's first OMNIMAX® theatre, TELUS World of Science is an iconic landmark that celebrates our past and inspires our future.
