Science World is a not-for-profit organization that engages British Columbians in science and inspires future science and technology leadership across the province. By using our website, you agree to the terms and conditions mentioned in this Privacy Policy.

Commitment to privacy

Our site collects anonymous visitor data so that we can provide our visitors with satisfactory service. We use this information to make improvements to our site navigation and for other statistical and analytical purposes.

Remember, despite our best efforts to keep user information safe on our website, no data exchange online can ever be guaranteed as 100% secure. By visiting our site, you agree that Science World is not responsible for third parties intercepting any of your personal information despite our efforts towards website security.

Information collected

We may collect any or all information that you give us depending on the type of transaction and interaction you enter into while on our website. Examples of this include your name, email address and data about your use of our site. Other information may also be collected based on the specific transaction you are undertaking.

We do not store financial information. Any information in relation to credit card payments is processed by Vantix ATMS+ on a secure website. Vantix has their own privacy policy available on their website.

Information use

If you provide us with an email address or any other information, we will only use it in relation to the purposes clearly defined by the submission form (i.e. To sign you up for one of our newsletters, to process a field trip booking, etc.) or to gain insight into visitor behaviour. All reasonable precautions are taken to prevent unauthorized use and access to such information.

In the case that you join one of our emailing lists. You will be given the opportunity to remove yourself from it at any time. Our commercial electronic messaging policy and methodology completely aligns with Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation.

Disclosing information

We do not disclose your personal information to third parties except when necessary to run our business (e.g. To conduct transactions with our online ticket purchasing software, to subscribe you to our email mailing lists through our email marketing provider, etc.)

We may occasionally provide information of a general nature to third parties (i.e. Letting them know how many tickets we've sold for a particular event or program), but we won't use any information that could potentially identify individual persons.

Changes to this policy

We reserve the right to update our privacy policy at any time. If this is done, we will notify visitors with an announcement on our homepage. Our privacy policy will always contain a date-stamp indicating the last time it was updated. Any changes to our privacy policy will supersede all previous versions.
