    Home Learners Science Club

Join the club! Explore hands-on activities and take-home projects.

This special series of workshops is based on our popular Super Science Club program. You’ll enjoy demonstrations, group exploration of our science centre, hands-on activities and take-home projects!

To be eligible, you must be a home school group or home learning family. Classes start at 2pm sharp and run for 1 hour. Please arrive 5 minutes early for sign in.

Primary (ages 6–8)*

Floaters and Sinkers: Oct 9 and Nov 13

Students will learn about mass, volume, density and their relationship to each other by conducting investigations into buoyancy—floating (and sinking) objects used in their everyday lives.

Rockets: Dec 11 and Jan 8

Students will explore the push and pulls that affect rockets by investigating how and why rockets move. They'll build and test several different rockets of their own!

Senses: Feb 12 and Mar 11

Students will explore touch, taste, sight, sound and smell by testing their senses using fun experiments.

Colour and Light: Apr 8 and May 8

Students will explore how colours are created and understood by our brains.
 

Intermediate (ages 9–11)**

Earthquakes: Oct 9 and Nov 13

Students will explore how earthquakes happen and what their effects are, by building and testing models.

Current Electricity: Dec 11 and Jan 8

Students will explore different kinds of circuits and investigate what is required to make a complete circuit.

Rockets: Feb 12 and Mar 11

Students will explore the push and pulls that affect rockets by investigating how and why rockets move. They'll build and test several different rockets of their own!

Eggstraordinary Eggsperiments: Apr 8 and May 13

Students will demonstrate several scientific principles by exploring the characteristics of an egg’s material and shape that make it so versatile.

Program details

  • Admission to TELUS World of Science on the day of your club session is included
  • Space is limited to 25 children per program
  • Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult 19+
  • Drop-in registration will not be accepted
  • Accompanying children who are not registered in the program will not be able to participate
  • Additional adults and children who are not participating in the Home Learners Science Club will pay the usual admission rate
  • Photos may be taken during the workshop and may be used for Science World promotional materials, publications and advertisements. Parents may request to opt-out themselves and their children.
  • Limited stroller parking is available
