Invest today for a brighter tomorrow

WHY NOW?

We’re living through fast-moving times, which means we must act now if we’re to have a say in the future we want. Amid economic uncertainty, a changing climate, and threats to science, we need nerds more than ever.

STEAM — that’s science, technology, engineering, art & design, and math — holds the key to solving humanity’s biggest challenges. A livable future is therefore a nerdy one.

Science World’s Future is Nerdy campaign seizes the opportunity presented by this moment. By supporting us, you’ll help make sure young people in British Columbia become the innovators of tomorrow.

OUR GOALS

Science World is on a mission to make Science For All a reality across BC. We’ll do this by igniting wonder, empowering dreams, and inspiring innovation. Here’s what that looks like:

IGNITE
WONDER

Refresh our iconic Dome Theatre with the latest technology showcasing awe-inspiring immersive experiences.

Redefine our centre by installing the new BC Climber, a hands-on installation soaring through the heart of the dome.

Revolutionize our entrance experience to offer sparks of joy as visitors flow seamlessly into Science World.

Renew our Search: Sara Stern Gallery to generate messages of hope and opportunity for a healthy planet.

EMPOWER
DREAMS

Create a new Science of BC Gallery to showcase cutting-edge innovations happening right here in BC.

Expand inclusivity in science by enhancing our Girls & STEAM presented by STEMCELL Technologies program.

Increase access to Science World for under-resourced communities to enable Science For All.

Provide educators with leading Pro-D offerings.

INSPIRE
INNOVATION

Help us expand our Future Science Leaders presented by Acuitas Therapeutics program — designed to teach core science skills.

Provide Science for All by increasing the reach of our Super Science Club program — delivering engaging science lessons to underserved schools.

Support our On The Road program so we can continue to reach every corner of BC.

WHY
SCIENCE
WORLD?

As a charity, Science World has a 35-year track record of success.

Science World is a trusted source of STEAM education reaching more than 4 million each year.

Science World reaches directly into classrooms and living rooms training teachers, educators, students and families in every community in BC.

Science World is an essential community hub for people to connect, learn and have fun.

WHAT
WILL BE
DIFFERENT?

Create 1 million nerds of the future.

Generate a pool of “Made in BC” talent to help fill hundreds of thousands of new STEAM jobs projected in the next decade.

Drive innovation and economic growth in BC.

Laying the Foundations for the Future: Progress to Date

More than $64.5M has already been raised to support critical upgrades and new visitor experiences in our iconic dome.

Through funding from all levels of Government — including $19M from the federal Green and Inclusive Community Buildings (GICB) program; $10.3M from PacifiCan’s Tourism Relief Fund (TRF); and $20M from the Province of BC — combined with individual and corporate support, Science World has already made great progress towards our funding needs.
