After Dark: Full Send – Extreme Sports Edition

For grown-ups who go full send on curiosity!

Unleash your inner daredevil at this 19+ night of science, stunts, and sips on May 15, 2025 – no kids, just curious minds and cold drinks. Hear from extreme athletes, experience the physics of BMX stunt demos, and discover what it takes to push the limits of the body—and mind!

Not an extreme sports enthusiast? No worries, no helmets required! Chill out at Spectacle, a photography collection featuring some of the most jaw-dropping human feats ever captured. Plus, design your own mini skateboard ramp and connect with the local sporting community.

Don’t miss Full Send, your only shot at a night where adrenaline meets intellect.

Exciting Things to Expect

1. BMX x Physics Bike Stunts: Watch renowned BMX rider Francois Debroux perform hops, spins, and tornadoes and learn about the physics and aerodynamics needed to keep these spins upright. You might even get a chance to be part of the demos!

2. Extreme Athletes Q&A Panel: We’re bringing together a downhill mountain biker, ultra-marathoner and competitive snowboarder to answer your Qs how they've managed to succeed in their sport! Pick up a wristband at the entrance.

3. Make Your Own Rad Ramp: Become an extreme (finger) sport athlete! Design and build your own skatepark with Science World’s state of the art Laser Printer. Get creative and put your tinkering minds to the challenge to create the ultimate finger-skate park.

4. Connect with the Extreme Sports Community: Meet local athletes from community groups such as the North Shore Mountain Bike Association, UBC Varsity Outdoor Club, and West Coast Soaring. Plus, get an up-close and personal look with their equipment.
