Join Girls and STEAM for our final livestream of 2024, Click or Treat? A Spooktacular Guide to Cybersecurity!

On Friday, October 11 at 10am, join us for a fang-tastic Halloween themed cybersecurity presentation. Dive into the mysterious world of the internet and uncover the secrets to staying safe online. 

What to expect: 

  • Privacy & Security: Discover how companies collect and use your data. Learn the tricks to keep your personal information safe from prying eyes.
  • Protect Your Privacy: Get the lowdown on creating strong passwords that even the craftiest ghouls can’t crack! 
  • Social Engineering: Find out how to spot sneaky schemes and protect yourself from online tricksters. 
  • Phishing, Vishing and Smishing: Learn to identify and avoid these digital traps that can lead to a frightful experience. 
  • Cyberbullying: Understand how to stand up against cyberbullies and keep your online space friendly and fun. 

This 45-minute journey that can be viewed online at home or in a classroom and will be packed with spooky stories, fun facts, and practical tips to make sure you’re the smartest pumpkin in the cyber pumpkin patch. Don’t miss out on the eerie-sistible opportunity to become a cybersecurity pro! It’s sure to be a hauntingly good time!

While best suited for participants in grade 6 and older, all ages and genders are welcome to experience these wonderful women in STEAM!

Though the terms "women" and "girls" are used in our event, Girls and STEAM refers to participants and presenters  who identify as women, girls, trans, genderqueer, non-binary, two-spirit, and gender questioning. Online attendance is free.

The event will also be live-streamed in the Science Theater at Science World, included with general admission.
