On the Road at Whistler Children’s Festival

The On The Road team will be performing two different shows at the Whistler Children's Festival on May 17 – 18! Be completely taken away at "Science Surprises" or explore soil and the wonders beneath our feet at "Dirt Detectives." Tickets required, so be sure to get them in advance!

How2Science

Get ready for mind-blowing science and hands-on fun with Science World On the Road. This high-energy, interactive show will have kids (and grown-ups!) spinning on platforms, launching rockets, and even riding hovercrafts!

From crazy cool demonstrations to exciting experiments, you’ll discover the secrets of science by observing, predicting, and testing—just like real scientists!

  • Date: May 17, 2025
  • Show: 12:30pm | Doors: 12:00pm
  • Venue: The Theatre at Maury Young Arts Centre
  • Price: $20/Ticket or $70/Family Pack (4 Tickets)

Cloud Spotters Workshop

Join us for an exciting, hands-on workshop where kids will become meteorologists and explore the fascinating world of clouds!

We’ll start by creating our very own cloud in a bottle. This simple experiment will help us understand how clouds form and what makes them unique. Next, we’ll dive into the different types of clouds, learning how meteorologists use these clouds to predict the weather.

Each participant gets to make their own "Cloud Spotter" — a fun, personalized tool to help them identify and track clouds in the sky. This interactive workshop is perfect for young scientists curious about nature and the sky above.

  • Date: May 17, 2025
  • Time: 3:00 pm - 3:45 pm | Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the start time of this workshop.
  • Venue: The Boardroom Room at the Maury Young Arts Centre

Feel the static charge with the hair-raising Van de Graaff Generator, and experience the thrill of spinning, falling, and flying experiments that will have the whole audience on the edge of their seats. Packed with excitement, surprises, and hands-on fun, this “greatest hits” science show is an unforgettable experience for curious minds of all ages.

Dirt Detectives

Get ready to uncover the wonders beneath our feet as we explore soil, worms, and compost and learn the indispensable role worms play in enhancing our soil's health. Join Science World facilitators with our mobile vermicomposter, Holly's Composter! During this workshop, dirt detectives will roll up their sleeves and dive into the dirt to see the intricate anatomy of these underground heroes and understand how these wrigglers turn food scraps into nourishing compost. But our investigation doesn't stop there! Participants will then create their own mini mobile worm composters to take home and continue vermicomposting at home. With hands-on activities and fascinating discoveries awaiting, prepare to be captivated by the magic of soil, worms, and compost, and to unleash your inner Dirt Detective in the process.
