Hands-on coding and robotics:
- Robot Mice: Visitors will code Robot Mice to successfully navigate a maze to get to the cheese! (Recommended for ages 4 – 9)
- Roving Robots: Visitors will be given the opportunity to code remote controls for our Roving Finch Robots so that they can drive them around and explore unknown regions. (Recommended for ages 10+)
- Amazon Robot: visitors will learn about the practical applications of robotics by viewing up-close an Amazon Hercules Robot, a powerful machine capable of handling heavy loads up to 1,000 pounds in Amazon fulfilment centres.
- “Your Voice is Power” drop-in activities and in-depth workshops combining music and tech for social justice, led by Taking It Global. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in quick coding activities with the option to dive deeper into coding basics through music remixing and engaging discussions on the Indigenous experience in Canada.
- FIRST LEGO® League (FLL): Visitors can experience an international robotics competition with hands-on LEGO® Education programmable robots. Kids will be able to complete simple missions on the FLL Into Orbit themed field set and learn how to get involved in the BC Provincial competition.
- Kids4Tech: Families can experience Mastercard’s global STEM education program designed to inspire students through interactive, inquiry-based activities focused on topics such as Algorithms and All Things Digital. Join the team at Science World and experience the program that connects real-world challenges to STEM careers, empowering the next generation of problem solvers and innovators.
Performance:
- Special drumming performance at 1:20 by: Yellow Bear Nakota, aka "YB Nakota", a traditional Sioux singer from Paul's First Nation in Treaty 6 Territory. He hopes to uplift others through his songs and sharing his story.
With so much excitement happening, some galleries and activities may have waitlists. We appreciate your patience as we make sure everyone gets a chance to enjoy the fun.
Expect Lineups. This event is free, but admittance will be first-come, first-served. There will be no Member express line on this day. Once inside the venue, some galleries and activities may fill up quickly, so you may encounter waitlists.
No Re-entry. This special event will be extra busy, so please note that there's no re-entry once you leave the event. You're free to enjoy as many activities as you want when you're inside!
Dress for Rain or Shine. Because we expect a long lineup, please dress appropriately for the weather—rain or shine— while waiting in line.
Dome Theatre on Pause. Our beloved Dome Theatre is currently under renovation and will not be open.
Bring Snacks and a Water Bottle. As there will be no re-entry if you leave the building, please make sure you bring enough snacks and water to fuel up and hydrate. We do have water stations throughout the venue, and Triple O’s and the Snack Lab will be open from 10am – 5pm.
Stick With Your Group. Visitors aged 12 and under must be supervised by an adult (19+) for the duration of their visit.
Travel Light to Explore More. Single-use lockers are limited. If you’re unable to get a hold of one to store items, please keep your belongings with you. Aside from strollers, please refrain from bringing large items (i.e. luggage, scooters, etc.)
Stroller Parking Available in Wonder Only. Stroller parking is only available for families while they’re visiting The Wonder Gallery for toddlers. When you’re finished at Wonder, please keep your stroller with you for the remainder of your visit.
Health Comes First, Stay Home if Unwell. For the safety of our visitors and staff, please stay home if you or anyone in your household does not feel well.
Be Kind to All. There will be no tolerance for abusive behaviour towards our staff, volunteers, or visitors. Misconduct, including threats or insults, will result in removal from the facility. Please be respectful towards staff and follow their directions.
