Tech-up Showcase presented by Amazon Future Engineer

Join us on Friday, September 22, for free admission to Science World for the Tech-Up Showcase presented by Amazon Future Engineer.

This event focuses on making STEAM subjects—science, technology, engineering, art & design, and math—accessible to everyone, regardless of your experience level.

About Amazon Future Engineer

Amazon Future Engineer is Amazon Canada’s comprehensive childhood-to-career program that increases access to computer science education for children and young adults from underserved and underrepresented communities.

About Tech-Up

Through Tech-Up, Science World delivers province-wide programs for students and teachers that include coding, computational thinking and digital skills.

With an emphasis on "coding to learn", our Tech-Up facilitators provide students with the skills they need for STEM courses in higher education and equip teachers to meaningfully incorporate coding and digital learning outcomes aligned with the provincial curriculum into their own classrooms.

Visitors will get hands-on at several activity stations to learn about coding and robot technology:

  • Code Robot Mice to successfully navigate a maze to get to the cheese.
  • Program Roving Finch Robots.
  • Test the agility of an AI-driven robot arm
  • Re-create your favourite emojis using coding languages like Scratch and Processing.py

Visitors will also learn how robot technology is used in Amazon fulfilment centres by getting up close and personal with an Amazon Hercules Robot, which can support loads of up to 1,000 pounds as it delivers inventory to Amazon associates at packaging stations.

The event will take place from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. Entry is granted on a first-come, first-served basis, so we recommend arriving early to fully enjoy the day's activities.

Tech-Up workshops are made possible in part by the generous support of:
