Structures faites de jujubes

Au moyen de jujubes et de cure-dents, les élèves fabriquent des modèles de structures de bâtiments délectables.

Key Questions

  • Quelles formes constituées par les cure-dents et les jujubes étaient les plus solides? Les carrés, les rectangles, les triangles?
  • Est-ce que la largeur de la base faisait une différence?
  • Lorsque les bâtiments s’écroulaient, quelles parties restaient intactes?
  • Pourquoi ces parties ne s’écroulaient elles pas?
  • Comment cette information peut-elle te permettre de construire une tour plus solide?

What To Do

  1. Individuellement ou en groupes, les élèves construisent des tours en insérant des cure-dents dans des jujubes, qui servent de connecteurs.

Donne‑toi tes propres défis ou essaie de relever les défis suivants :
Le bâtiment doit avoir deux étages et mesurer au moins_____ cm de hauteur.
La base du bâtiment ne doit pas dépasser une surface déterminée.
Le bâtiment ne doit pas inclure plus de ____ jujubes.
Le bâtiment ne doit pas inclure plus de ____ cure-dents.
Tu peux relever les défis dans un temps limité ou non.

  1. Mets les structures à l’épreuve au moyen d’un simulateur de tremblements de terre ou en secouant la table.
