We are excited to celebrate some fantastic local indigenous organizations and artists at Science World on Tuesday, August 27, 10-5pm! Special programming happening on this day includes:
- View the Aunty Collective Art Show, a new display of artwork presented by Aunty Collective Indigenous Creative Practice Hub, in partnership with Tatus Creative. This mixed-media show includes a variety of art, from video to handmade drums and blankets, showcasing the methods and cultural connections of the artists to Indigenous practices.
- Enjoy a colourful short Coyote Science film in our Science Theatre. Created by local Indigenous filmmaker, Loretta Todd, this award-winning film looks at the relationship between skateboarding and physics.
- Meet local Indigenous artist Ashley M Jones, who’s body organ paintings intrinsically bring together art, science, and her Haida and Cree Métis roots. Test your medical knowledge and see if you can correctly match the organ picture to the correct name.
General admission at Science World is free for all self-identifying Indigenous Peoples year-round.
