Community Science Celebration – Port Alberni

Come join us at the Port Alberni Community Science Celebration on Saturday, May 18 to explore the Science in YOUR community!

At the end of a week of school visits in the community by the fantastic On The Road team, Science World is excited to share their science presentations and more with scientists of all ages at this free public event.

We will be joining local exhibitors and our hosts North Island College to present interactive exhibits and presentations from 10:30am-4pm, including shows and activities throughout the day and a special teen programming presented by Girls and STEAM at 1:30pm.

The 1:30pm teen-exclusive, hands-on workshop will provide participants ages 11+ the opportunity to work closely with STEAM organizations and learn more about what opportunities a career in STEAM can open up!

Science World and The North Island College will host open labs, rocket launching and other fun activities. Catch the On The Road team presenting live science shows at 11am, 12:30pm, 2pm and 3pm. Exhibitors will include: Alberni Valley Makerspace, BC Hydro, Genome BC, Royal BC Museum, Nanaimo Science Centre, BC EHS, and the Arrowsmith Amateur Radio Club.

Community Science Celebrations would not be possible without the generous support of our donors and partners.
