Chemistry Online Science Adventure

THIS INTERACTIVE ONLINE PROGRAM WILL GET STUDENTS THINKING ABOUT SOLUTIONS, ACIDS, BASES AND CHEMICAL REACTIONS USING A COMBINATION OF DEMONSTRATIONS AND HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES.

Can a gas dissolve in a liquid? How can we identify acids and bases (and why do we want to)? What clues help us know whether chemical or physical changes are happening? We’ll show your class some of our favourite chemistry demonstrations to help answer these questions.

Choose between a 40 minute series of interactive demonstrations OR the 60 minute session that includes an activity led by the presenter. In the 60 minute session, students will use purple cabbage to create their own acid/base indicator and test it on familiar chemicals. Teachers are responsible for assembling and preparing materials. Note: check program attachment for preparation instructions and materials list for this activity.
